Source TV to be in L4D2

CEVO has released an interview by their Head of Game for L4D, Mike Donahue, with Valve developer Chet Faliszek.  He mentions that L4D2 will eventually have the Source TV feature.  Check it out:

CEVO|Donahue: Are you encouraged by the reaction to the demo so far?

Chet Faliszek: The reaction to not only the demo, but the new coverage, video segments, previews, etc has been overwhelmingly positive. I can't wait until the game is released already! I want to play with other people online, there is just so much to this game people haven't seen yet.

CEVO|Donahue: The "L4D2" boycott seems to have completely dissipated by now - in fact, boycott members pre-ordering L4D2 at a rate higher than regular L4D1 owners; what would you say to any remaining holdouts?

Chet Faliszek: Check out the demo. Check out the full game when your friends have it.

CEVO|Donahue: What is Valve's view of the competitive gamer situation that exists around it's games - Counter-Strike, TF2 and L4D?

Chet Faliszek: We think the competitive community is a great asset for these games.

CommL4D v2.0 Launched

We have finally finished our update of the design of Community L4D and here it is!  Ben and midblue started working on a new look halfway through October and the fruits of their labor are now apparent for all to see.  Please comment on this article or post in this thread on our L4D2 forums to let us know what you think of the new look.  We know there are some minor issues yet to be fixed (and we are going to be adding a few more features and URL adjustments) but let us know what sort of vibes you are getting.

If you are interested in writing competitive L4D2 topics or a review of L4D2 when it is released, please post in this thread on the forums.  We are looking to expand our ranks to provide solid coverage of L4D2 as the competitive community develops.

Gabe Newell Down Under!

October 1, 2009 - Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced its studio co-founder and president, Gabe Newell, will be visiting Australia next week to meet local game designer Joe W-A, who raised over $3000 for Newell's visit through the gaming community.

The fundraising began after Joe heard that Newell had recently flown the leaders of a gaming community group boycotting Valve's upcoming Left 4 Dead 2 to Valve's Seattle, WA headquarters. Joe emailed to ask if Newell would fly him to Seattle so Joe could show him his "mod" (a PC gaming term for modifying an existing game into something new).

Newell playfully replied that he wouldn't fly Joe to Seattle because he was "boycotting" Joe's mod. The Australian-based game designer appealed to the game community for $3,000-the funds necessary to fly Newell halfway around the world-and raised the money in less than 48 hours.

"The power of the gaming community and their ability to rally around a cause - be it serious or fun in nature - is amazing," said Gabe Newell, president and co-founder of Valve. "In 2003, the community helped the FBI and European law enforcement officials find the people who stole the Half-Life 2 source code. This year, the community is putting me on a plane to the other side of the world to meet Joe W-A and see his MOD. It's going to be a fun trip."

Newell and Joe will meet in Australia next week. Reports of the trip will be posted on L4D.com's blog section by Valve employee Erik Johnson, who will be traveling with Newell down under.
